This year’s Women’s Indoor Hockey 5s Competition culminated in a nail biting final at Wembley Arena, with Bowdon Hightown facing East Grinstead.

it proved to be a very evenly-matched challenge; both teams having to fight hard for the title. Bowdon, however, claimed victory on the day - Sally Walton's goals helping to secure a 4-1 win. Sally also claimed the highest goal scorer and most valuable player awards.

After the match, Support through Sport UK's Claire Allen caught up with Tina Cullen of Bowdon Hightown and Sophie Bray of East Grinstead ...

Massive Congratulations, what a brilliant result for you all …

Yeah it's been brilliant and it was really nice that we got Holly, our youngest player, on the score sheet. Amy played well, Kayleigh played well and obviously Sally - so everyone played their hardest. So it's great and a brilliant experience!

What did you make of the atmosphere here today?

It was fantastic and all of the children from my school were here to support us, which was great. After losing here last year, they all thought I was really rubbish - so I had to make sure we won this year!

So what's next for Bowdon?

We have the outdoor season now - and we're in trouble in the outdoors! We're ninth at the minute, so we need two or three victories to try to stay up, because we don’t want to go down, obviously. So outdoor's the focus for us now and and then, thanks to today's win, we'll be competing in Europe next year for the indoors, which is fantastic.

Really fantastic finish today, with some heart-stopping hockey …

Yes, and that was really nice as last year's match was very one-sided. But today it could have gone either way - and our keeper kept us in it really. We are just so happy with the result!

Sophie Bray, East Grinstead

Congratulations, runner up this year. It's a great achievement in what was an exciting and tough competition. How did you find it out there today?

What an amazing atmosphere, you have to pinch yourself! You look up and see all the people - and seeing and hearing all the Grinstead block applauding just gave me goose bumps!

Amazing play from East Grinstead today, you’ve got to be really proud of the team and how you performed?

Yes - massively proud of the girls. We have come so far and so just to reach the final is huge achievement. Obviously we wanted to win, but it didn’t happen - but we will be back!

What’s next for the East Grinstead girls?

The focus is now back on the outdoors. We have a massive push outdoors now - we're currently top of our league and so will be fighting for promotion.

We're really thrilled to welcome you as a Support through Sport UK Patron. It's great that you want to be part of the family, so a big thank you from all of us!

When I spoke to Helen, I was incredibly shocked and am extremely honoured to be part of it.
