Claire and Rhian headed to Leicester to cover the 2016 Wheelchair Basketball Continental Clash ...
This year's men's Continental Clash featured some of the world's best wheelchair basketball teams, including World Champions, Australia, and Paralympic Gold Medallists, Canada. Completing the line-up were Japan, the Netherlands, the USA and, of course, Great Britain - last year's European Champions.
Support through Sport UK watched Team GB take on the USA in what was the final game of the third day of the tournament.
Right from the opening whistle, the play was fierce and unforgiving. Phil Pratt, Terry Bywater and Gaz Choudhry were exceptional for Team GB, pulling off penalty shots and regularly managing to win the ball from the USA thanks to some well-executed defensive play.
However, despite Team GB being in the lead at the end of the first and the third quarter, the US fought hard in the final quarter and ultimately secured the game: 58-49. The US's top performers included Aaron Gouge, Brian Bell and Trevon Jenifer.
It was a real nail-biter of a game, the lead switching from one nation to the other. It also really showcased the level of play that we can expect to see in Rio this summer.
In the rest of the tournament, Great Britain defeated Canada: 68-40, and Japan: 64:46. They lost to the Netherlands and Australia in very close matches. The ultimate champions were Team USA.
